Keegan & Kaleb,
It’s the beginning of summer before your senior year in high school. We are already involved in June Summer League basketball play, mandatory football practices, and summer work schedules.
Life is busy, to say the least.
This is the time, however, to ‘Lock In.’ If you want to pursue sports after high school, we need to be going to football combines, or basketball camps. We need to be looking at what you want, and how to go about and achieve those goals.
If you ‘d like to go to a school for robotics or under-water basket weaving, we should be looking into that dream and what is needed to get there.
Whatever your dream is, if you want it bad enough, you should go for it with 110% effort. Opportunities do not typically just fall in your lap. You need to work for what you want and put forth effort.
I’m not trying to push sports, I’m truly not. I just don’t want you to regret later on not trying to achieve those dreams.
Now saying this, I also realize you are young and life is jam-packed with opportunities for many years to come. You don’t need to know right now if you want to be a lawyer, an electrician, or a teacher. (Please don’t choose teaching. That’s a post for a later day.) You have many years to figure out what your life passion could and/or will be. Let’s not rush.
I’m just saying that if you’d like to go to that football combine in Mount Pleasant, let me know. I’ll drive you. If you’d like to go to a basketball camp in Spring Arbor, tell me the time and I’ll be there with you.
Above all else, whatever you do decide to do, go at it like Kirk Gibson when it’s the 9th inning, 2 outs, and your at bat with a 3/2 count.
If it’s important to you, never give up. Never believe you are not good enough. Never underestimate your abilities.
Your biggest fan,
Mom
