Conversations in April about Year’s Resolutions? Let’s be honest, if I hadn’t written a blog post about my personal goals for 2024, I probably would not even be thinking of them.
They would be a memory of the past just like Grandma’s Christmas eggnog.
Nevertheless, here I am in April, reflecting on my resolutions for 2024.
Let’s see how I’m doing.
Resolution #1: Lowering A1C
I’ve been hitting this goal hard…. with the aid of Ozempic.
If you have not read any of my Ozempic posts, you can find them all here.
I have been staying strong with committing to checking my glucose number at least twice a day. My blood sugar levels have been consistently in the low to mid 100s – which is fabulous.
Before Ozempic, I was experiencing a lot of numbers in the 200s, and even occasionally easing into the lower 300s.
Not anymore.
At my last A1C check, I was down a point (I think my number was still high, somewhere in the 8 range), but there was definitely room for improvement. Since then, the doctor upped my Ozempic dosage to 2 mg per week.
The medication, along with my attempting to eat healthier foods, has helped me with having less headaches and dizziness, which are two side effects I experience with high blood sugar. Not to mention that I’m not as thirsty anymore as I was in the past.
All in all, my goal of tackling my Type 2 Diabetes is going well.
Resolution #2: Earn Extra $200 per Month with a Side Hustle
Out of my three New Year’s resolutions, this one is where I need the most work.
Brian has been listing items online with Facebook Marketplace. He did sell some fencing that was laying around outside, for $150. I love when he does sell an item from either the pole barn or from outside simply because it also helps me feel like we are more organized.
I believe Brian has a couple of other things listed, however, we sometimes forget to either update those listings or look for new items to get rid of. This post is a reminder for me to ask him how the other items are doing and to see if there’s anything else we can get rid of.
I’m still doing my online surveys. InBoxDollars and Survey Junkie tend to be the programs that I gravitate towards the most. It can become frustrating when you begin a survey, answer 5 or 6 short questions, and then the program says you are not the right audience for their particular need.
I understand the reasoning, however it can still be aggravating. I think I’m going to work on continuing to get to that $50 mark for each program, and then cash out of all but one. I’ll probably stick with InBoxDollars.
Sometimes it feels like I have too many different avenues I’m working on and then it’s hard to do a good job in any of the areas.
I don’t have a nice little break-down this time of how much money I made in each category. There were a few dollars here and there on surveys I completed during a movie, and others that were done while I was sitting in a parking lot, waiting for Keegan to get out of basketball practice.
Most of the ‘extra’ money we made this past month was from selling items on Marketplace.
I definitely need to work on increasing my commitment to this particular goal.
Resolution #3: Declutter/Organize House

This is my favorite.
I’m not saying that the house is super clean, by any means. (It’s actually not.) I really just enjoy the results of an effective ‘decluttering’ session.
I can breathe easier when items are in their proper places. There’s a calmness to my soul when I’m in an environment that is not chaotic and cluttered.
I’ve tackled quite a few areas of the house since making this New Year’s resolution at the beginning of 2024. It’s nice to see the progress, however, life continues on and the typical, day-to-day cleaning still consumes a great deal of time, especially with two teenage boys and an 11 year old girl.
My next room to work on is going to be the laundry room. I’ve done a few things in there in the past couple of weeks, but I really need to just organize that space from top to bottom. Sometimes the laundry room become a ‘catch-all’ area for extra storage bins, seasonal items, etc… I still need that space to be utilized for that, however I think a little bit of organizing will really increase it’s potential.
I’m definitely continuing on with this New Year’s resolution as well.
Can I Make it 6 Months?
As I finish typing this blog post, it’s mid April. I would think that another logical time to check-in with these goals would be around the end of the 6 month time period. We will see if I’m still carving out time to declutter, searching for items to sell on Facebook Marketplace, and continuing to be diligent with checking my glucose levels.
Hopefully, wherever I am at that point, my family and I are happy, healthy, and putting in the work to achieve our personal dreams.
