I’ve spent this past year blogging on Ozempic. I have realized that as time has gone on, I more than likely repeat myself more often than not.
Because of this, I’ve decided to give monthly updates instead of weekly, or 2-week updates.
It’s my hope that I don’t become overly boring and repetitive.
This post is mainly focusing on the last month of taking Ozempic. If you would like to read about my experience from the very beginning, please click here.
Side Effects & Blood Sugar Levels:
There are days that go by and I completely forget that I’m even taking Ozempic. Sometimes I even wonder if maybe I’m immune to the negative side effects now since I’ve been taking the medicine for so long.
Then I have a day like this past Tuesday where I’m burping foul smelling burps, nauseous at even the thought of food, and wondering if today will be a day that I’m going to throw up. (It didn’t happen, but I certainly felt like I was going to get sick.)
Most days go well, with me giving little thought to the weekly Ozempic injections. I’ve learned to eat smaller portions so I don’t get sick, however I tend to eat more often throughout the day. (This probably explains why I haven’t lost as much weight as I would have liked to.)
The most frustrating side effect with Ozempic that I experience is the bloating. It’s certainly not everyday, but when I’m bloated, I truly feel like one of those dead animals you see along side the road, with an extended stomach and legs stretched straight out in the air.
I had gassy/burpy days prior to taking Ozempic, however it was no where near what I sometimes experience now.
On the positive side, my overall appetite is less (I just tend to eat when I’m full still, which is stupid.) Also, my sugar levels continue to be in acceptable ranges, which would be usually in the mid 100s. Despite the negative side effects, I will continue to take Ozempic as long as the medication continue to help me control the Type 2 Diabetes and my doctor says that it is safe to do so.
I’m beyond ecstatic for how Ozempic has aided with controlling my blood sugar levels.
Weight Loss:
I gained a pound this past month. I’m not actively trying to lose weight, and I should be. Instead, I’ve been focusing on school, paperwork, report cards, lesson plans, meetings, and sports schedules. (I’m not complaining. I know we all have busy schedules and responsibilities to navigate with our professional and personal lives.)
When there’s a late night because of a football or volleyball game, we take the easy way out and order pizza, or grab some chicken nuggets at McDonalds. (This is completely unrelated, but I love the Crocs toys in the Happy Meals.)
I’ve been off lately. Just not myself.
I need some order and routine to my life that I’m desperately working on at the moment. Mom’s death, while it was four years ago this month, still affects me daily. The upcoming holidays only make it that much more difficult.
She simply loved Christmas and always found a way to create a magical time for her family during that time of the year.
Some days when I grab a Snickers or Caramello, I don’t really care about my sugar going up, or trying to lose those extra pounds.
Somedays, it’s just about surviving.

Doctor’s Appointment in Two Weeks
I have an appointment with my doctor soon. I imagine she will check my A1C and we will discuss how Ozempic has been working for me.
I’m looking forward to talking with the doctor to see what she has to say about my bloodwork, and the overall plan with moving forward.
Usually doctor’s appointments don’t bode well for me, but I believe this one will be different.
I’ll let you know how it goes.
