    Weekly A1C/Ozempic Updates

Side Effects:  I definitely have not been as hungry as I usually am. Matter of fact, sometimes I have to think through my day to remember when I ate last. When I do get hungry, if I eat too much, I feel like I may throw up. I have not yet actually become sick, but I did have a couple of times this past week that I felt like I was close.

Sugar Levels:  I have a new sugar meter thing and it announces my number. This is different from my last one where the number would just appear on the screen. (The kids and Brian would always try to guess my number when I was testing my sugar. It was kind of a family game.) My new machine announces the number to the world, nice and loud. The reason I mention this is because I just took my sugar a couple of hours ago and the computerized girl voice announced “119.” When this happened, everyone looked up and looked at me. I looked at the screen and confirmed that the number was indeed 119. I shook it a little to see if something was broke, but it was working fine. My numbers have definitely been better since I’ve started Ozempic. I have not seen a number in the low 100s in forever.

Weight Loss: I lost 1.5 pounds for week 2 on Ozempic.

    • Week 1 – 4.5 lbs
    • Week 2 – 1.5 lbs
    • Total: 6 lbs

    Thoughts From Week 2

It’s been so nice to see lower numbers on my blood sugar meter. I haven’t been dizzy lately with the headaches that I had been getting with my higher glucose numbers. It also eases my mind to not worry about the toll that my sugar levels were having on my body.

When I was in high school, I would sometimes stay at my Grandpa Lovette’s house, who was also diabetic. I would help him take his sugar and I remember that we always wanted to stay under 300. I think that having this memory made it hard for me to see numbers in the high 200s and low 300s on my own meter.

    Goals for Today:

    • Make Tapioca Pudding (I should try to whip egg whites to put on top like Grandma Lovette used to.)
    • Watch Football in Front of the Fire
    • Read a Chapter in The Body in the Back Garden, by Mark Waddell
