Dear Extraordinary Children,
I am always telling you that ‘family helps family,’ so I couldn’t possibly leave this lesson out of the Daily Dose of Direction list.
There will be times you won’t want to answer the phone when a family member call you up. Maybe you are getting ready for a hot date, or you are coming home and looking forward to a nap on the couch. You will just know that answering that telephone call will mean giving up some of your time to go and do a task you really could care less about doing.
Too bad.
We have each other to lean on when life gets a little hectic. It matters that we are there for each other. It’s important.
Help your grandparents (and your parents) as they get older in life. Daily chores can become a struggle. Give your time and your love. You never know when you will need help yourself some day.
Can I confide in something? I wish I would have helped Grandma Lovette more. I helped with daily chores as an adult when we were Up North for the weekend, or if I was at her house during a family gathering.
That was not the case when I was a teenager. It’s one of those little regrets I have in life.
I hope you are having an amazing day today!
Love you,
Mom
