I love basketball. For me, it’s the squeaky sound of the sneakers on the court, skinned knees as kids dive for a ball on the ground, and the swish of the net from a nice 3-point shot.
Gus Macker is a 3-on-3 tournament that travels around in different states that is usually played outside. It can be rough, loud, and intense. I love watching it, and a long time ago when I used to be in better shape, I played in it.
This past weekend, my twin boys played in a Gus Macker tournament in Newaygo, MI. They ended up coming in 3rd out of 17 teams. The boys received a little Gus Macker trophy, and just overall really enjoyed the weekend of basketball.

If you ever have a chance to go and watch, you should take the opportunity to do so. The games are short and usually face-paced.
Next weekend, all three of my kids are playing in Gus Macker in Jackson. I’m thinking that it will be our last one for the summer before football season begins.
Goals for Today:
- Walk two miles
- Write in the cabin for a few more hours
- Clean my bedroom
