It’s week 26. I’m always surprised at how quickly each week passes by when it’s time for a new update.
Disclosure: This week was not my best week.
Side Effects:
I didn’t feel as full this past week as I normally do. There were times I wondered if I forgot to take my last Ozempic injection, which I hadn’t.
I was hungry at school throughout the day, as well as hungry when I came home after work. The hunger would subside after I ate a little bit, but it surprised me at how much I was thinking of food. I seemed obsessed with eating.
There were no issues with stomach/gas pains since my last post. I also haven’t been nauseous at all. (If this is the first post you are reading about my Ozempic journey, please know that I have definitely experienced side effects in prior weeks. You can read all about it starting here.)
It was a very odd Ozempic week for me.
Sugar Levels:
My sugar levels have been great. I truly did not realize how lowering my glucose levels would really impact my overall feeling of being healthy.
It’s rare for me to have headaches, increased thirstiness, and the feeling of having a ‘flushed’ face, which used to happen routinely when my sugar was high.
It’s also nice to see those low numbers on the glucose meter. I have not had a number in the 200s for a while now.
When I think about regaining some of my health, my thoughts always move directly to my children. They are young right now, but eventually they will have children of their own. I want to be there for them.
The time to get serious about my health is now. Ozempic is helping me with this.
Weight Loss:
I gained almost a pound this week (+0.8 lb). To be honest, I’m surprised it wasn’t more than that.
There were two factors, besides my evident lack of willpower, that contributed to my weight gain:
- Spring Break began so I’m currently on vacation and in vacation mode
- March Madness started – which is my absolute favorite time of year
As soon as vacation started, I began to think about what foods I could make at home with my extra free time. I don’t always have the chance during the work week to cook the meals I enjoy making for my family.
In conjunction with this, the NCAA men’s basketball tournament started.
Now I know this shouldn’t turn into a ‘sports theme’ post, however March Madness is huge for me. The first couple days of the tournament are usually when I use my Personal Days. I sit in my chair in the living room with my Diet Coke on it’s coaster, the remote at hand, my bracket nearby, and my computer and lap table within arms reach.
Usually there’s food involved. It’s like my Superbowl. (You will find more about my love for March Madness here, if you would like to read it.)
Because of this, I’ve been eating more than I typically would. I need to get back on track and make those healthy food choices again.
It’s just that it’s not always fun to be healthy. I will say, though, that I don’t want to backslide with the weight loss. I’m feeling the benefits of the 24 pounds gone in little ways here and there throughout the day.
I definitely want to continue to lose weight.

The Last Stretch Before Summer
After Spring Break, the school/work days fly by.
My calendar is already packed with meetings and events leading up to that first week of June when we end classes before Summer Break.
While I didn’t start Ozempic with the thought of weight loss in mind, I am happy with the benefits in that area. I would like to stay on track and continue to lose a little bit more weight before summer begins.
It’s not about fitting into specific clothes for me, or anything like that. It’s more about being able to bend down a little easier to pick something up off the floor, or to move around with less back pain, etc…
I just want to be healthy. I need to stay on track.
Goals for Today:
- Help Khloe Organize her Bedroom
- Catch up with Clothes & Dishes
- Watch Basketball
