My journey with Ozempic is still going strong, even after 7 months. Ozempic has helped me tremendously as I navigate the road to a healthier lifestyle.
This blog post is mostly about my journey for the past couple of weeks. If you would like to read more about my side effects when I first started taking Ozempic, please read here.
Side Effects:
The biggest side effect from Ozempic that I’ve noticed these past couple of weeks, is the feeling of nausea. It hasn’t been consistent, nor too overwhelming. I definitely did not feel anywhere close to throwing up, as I have in the past.
There’s also been that feeling of ‘fullness’ that hits you, almost immediately after you begin eating. I read recently someone that referred to this feeling as ‘hitting the Ozempic wall.’ It’s definitely a real thing that I’ve needed to learn how to contend with while on this medicine.
Occasionally I will still have Ozempic burps, but they don’t seem to be as bad, for some reason. It’s almost as if my body has learned how to coexist with the medicine.
Sugar Levels:
I have not had any numbers in the 200s lately, but my sugar was definitely higher around Easter. I imagine that if I would have checked my glucose levels directly after eating egg salad sandwiches and chocolate bunnies (not necessarily together), my sugar would have been higher than it should.
I’ve ate too much chocolate lately. I know I have. It’s been difficult not to with bite size Twix and Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs in the house.
I’m continuing to check my sugar levels twice each day. My morning numbers have been climbing into the mid/high 100’s. They should be closer to 100 then 200.
The only thing that has been keeping them somewhat close to normal, has been the Ozempic.
Ozempic has been the silent partner in helping me control my sugar levels, that I didn’t realize I could count on.
Weight Loss:
I gained another pound since I last weighed in. I didn’t weight in last week, which was Easter Sunday. When I stepped onto the scale this morning, it was up 1.2 pounds.
I feel like I’m not only letting myself down in this area, but others as well. This blog is like a silent Jiminy Cricket sitting on my shoulder. (That’s a good thing, otherwise the scale could have showed a five pound weight gain.)
Weight loss was never a priority when beginning Ozempic, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t enjoyed losing the weight. I want to continue on with that aspect of this new journey. I need to take it more seriously so that I can continue to be a healthier person.

Is it Working?
If you are reading this post, wondering if Ozempic is right for you, I don’t have the answer to that.
I do know that Ozempic is exactly what I needed, starting 7 months ago when I was sitting in that doctor’s office, wondering how to lower my A1C.
I’ve learned that I still need to put the work in to see positive results, but I’m okay with that.
I need to stay out of the Easter candy laying around the house. I still need to make sure I don’t overeat pasta and other carbs, but Ozempic is there to remind me of that, with the occasional nausea and stomach issues.
Ozempic is working for me, helping me keep my glucose levels in a manageable range.
Yes….I’ve lapsed with my weight loss goals the past few weeks. I imagine it won’t be the last. (This isn’t my first rodeo when it comes to losing weight.)
The difference, this time around, is that I feel like I have support to help keep me on track.
I need to get to work, and that’s exactly what I’m going to do.
Goals for Today:
- Not Eat the Ice Cream in the Freezer (I know it’s there waiting for me)
- Not eat the Chocolate in the Candy Bowl in the Kitchen
- Stay Away From the Debbie Cakes in the Pantry
