I have been on Ozempic now for 25 weeks. While this journey hasn’t always been perfect, I’ve experienced positive results with lowering my A1C and with weight loss.

Side Effects:
I still think that one of the primary side effects I’m still experiencing while on Ozempic is the occasional bouts of nauseous. I’m not always sure if I should eat a couple of crackers to help stabilize the feeling, or stay away from food so that I don’t throw up.
Usually what happens is that it just goes away throughout the course of the day. It’s not typically so extreme that it would keep me from doing most of my daily activities. It’s also not a constant feeling that I have. When I am nauseous, it tends to be more of a morning thing for me.
If you’ve read any of my other Ozempic blog posts, you’ll know that another side effect of Ozempic for me is the overwhelming feeling of being full soon after I begin eating.
I went to Cracker Barrel yesterday to eat lunch with my dad. I ordered a chicken salad and a baked potato. The salad sounded good, but I also wanted something warm. Anyway, the food came and I knew I had to make a decision – I wasn’t going to be able to eat it all. I ended up starting with the potato, made my way through half of it, then looked at my dad.
“You’re full, aren’t you?” he asked.
“Yeah. I’m going to finish this potato, but I’ll just box up the salad and eat it for dinner.”
“That means I bought you both lunch and dinner.”
“Guess so,” I replied with a smile.
I really could have made do with just half the potato, but what’s the point in that?
The salad went home with me and I ended up splitting it with Brian for dinner. I didn’t even eat all of my half. The feeling of ‘fullness’ is a definite side effect of the medication.
Sugar Levels:
I’m not sure what to say about my sugar levels, except that they’ve consistently been exactly where they should be – which is in the low 100s.
I’ve enjoyed feeling healthier, if that makes any sense. I used to experience headaches, a flushed face, and excessive thirstiness all of the time. Those symptoms are gone with my lower blood sugar levels.
I’m continuing to check my sugar levels twice a day. It keeps me on track and reminds me that I’m doing all of this to stay healthy.
Weight Loss:
Another week down, another pound gone! I lost 1.2 pounds this week. I’m officially at a 25 pound weight loss.
The weight loss is not staggering, by far. It’s more of a ‘slow and steady’ thing for me, but I’m okay with that. If I was being honest here on this blog, which I always aim for, I could voice my goal of a 50 pound weight loss.
We’ll see if I get there.
