Life has been hectic lately, but all is well.
I’m on week 50 of my Ozempic journey – just two weeks shy of a full year.
This blog post is an update on the last week or so of my taking Ozempic. If you would like to read about my journey from the beginning, you can find all of my Ozempic posts here.
Thank you for following me as I try to improve my overall health.
Side Effects:
It occurred to me this past week, that if you are the type of person who has a difficult time with being nauseous, Ozempic may not be the medicine for you.
It’s not a ‘Call in Sick to Work’ type of feeling, however it can get old after awhile. Now saying this, there are probably people out there that would do a much better job than I do of making better food choices that would help limit the nausea.
I stay away from certain foods as much as possible, however I do eat things that probably contribute to the feeling of sickness.
If you are reading this post and thinking that you’d better not try Ozempic because of this, I do want to say that, for me, the benefits of the medication far outweigh the negative side effects the medication can have.
Along with nausea, the Ozempic burps have been out in full force. At home, I just let them out. When you have this feeling that there’s all this gassy air trapped inside your body, you just want to let loose. I’m a little more ladylike in public and I attempt to control any overwhelming need to burp or pass gas (toot).
I remember once being around a campfire during my college years. Someone farted and another person made the comment, “Grandma always said, they don’t pay rent so kick them out.”
There are times, especially in the early morning hours for me when I’ve been laying down for awhile, that I feel like I’m so bloated and full of air and gas that I just need to get it out of me.
So I do. (I’m keeping things honest today….maybe a little too honest.)
Poor Brian. He may be rethinking his marriage vows – “for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, including Ozempic issues, to love and to cherish, till death do us part.”
That’s been my experience this past week. And his.
Sugar Levels:
I have been so excited about how Ozempic has positively impacted my glucose levels.
My journey with Ozempic began with the main goal of helping me control my blood sugar and ultimately lower my A1C.
In this respect, Ozempic has been a complete success for me. My A1C is down in the 6’s (well, 6.9 if we want to get technical, but that’s still the 6s), I feel healthier, and have less issues with headaches and blurry vision.
Now that summer is over and I’m teaching, I’m back into the routine again of checking my sugar twice a day. My morning glucose level still tends to be around 150 or so, which is higher than it should be, but better than low 200s. My afternoon number is usually in the low to mid 100s.
This is amazing. The days of seeing glucose levels in the high 200s and mid 300s is long gone.
Life is good.
Weight Loss:
Weight loss is the area where I wish I was experiencing more success. I did lose another pound since I last weighed in two weeks ago, however I wish it was more.
My pants continue to be loose, along with my shirts.
I can feel the difference. I can see the difference, but I just wish I was closer to the 50 pound loss mark, than the 30 pound loss.
As I sit here and type this update, I know why the number on the scale isn’t closer to what I would like it to be.
I’ve talked about it in other posts, but I’m just not taking this weight loss piece seriously enough.
I eat candy, as well as the occasional slice of pizza, as well as the occasional banana split.
I’m lucky to continue to stay even close to the same weight, never mind losing only a pound or two every other week.
My end goal is still a 60 pound weight loss. When I flipped the calendar page from August to September, I wrote a big huge 60 at the bottom to keep me focused.
I’ll get there.

Top 5 Things to Remember While Taking Ozempic
- Don’t order a big dinner at the restaurant unless you are prepared to take at least half of it home.
- Never give yourself an Ozempic injection when you have a full stomach. You’ll get sick.
- Be prepared to have stomach issues (gassiness) along with stinky burps.
- Taking Ozempic doesn’t mean you will automatically lose weight, although I believe it can absolutely help.
- You will not be able to eat as much of your favorite party/holiday food as you would like. It’s kind of depressing at first.
Goals for Today:
- Work on Pinterest – It’s been awhile since I’ve made any Pins.
- Load the Dishwasher – While this seems like it should be a quick chore, it seems monumental at the moment.
- Read my Book

Good morning, I came across your posts about Ozempic and decided to take a look. Thanks for sharing your journey. I am on week 3 of Ozempic. I had tried it a few years back and it made me sick so I stopped. My doctor wanted me to give it another try so I did. So far, I haven’t been sick. I do have mild waves of nausea at times but it passes quickly and I can live with it. I do burp a lot more than I ever did but it’s not sour belches nor do they stink or taste bad. That being said, I have zero appetite. I go all day long without eating anything other than maybe a protein shake added to coffee in the mornings or a bite of some type of sandwich meat or maybe a square of cheese. I try to make myself eat something for dinner when I get home and my husband I have dinner together. I only eat because I feel like I need to eat something. I am VERY tired all the time, which I contribute to lack of protein or just lack of eating period. I have lost about 5lbs. in the past 3 weeks. The tiredness is the only negative that I don’t like, but I’m managing to get up and got to work everyday. Again, thanks for sharing your journey! Good Luck!
Hi Angela,
Thanks for your comment! I enjoy reading about others on a similar journey. Good luck with this time around on Ozempic. Keep me posted. Hopefully your fatigue goes away.
