    Weekly A1C/Ozempic Updates

I’ve been on this Ozempic journey for 18 weeks now. While my results have not been drastic by any means, I’m still seeing progress with both my blood sugar levels, as well as my weight loss.

If you are new to my journey, please feel free to check out my other posts on Ozempic, as well as the numerous posts on myliferamblings.

Thanks for joining me as I work on a healthier me!

    Side Effects:

Last Tuesday was my doctor’s appointment where it was suggested that I increase my Ozempic dosage from 1 mg per week to 2 mgs each week.

I took my first 2 mg injection Thursday evening on a full stomach. I shouldn’t have.

The middle of the night Thursday night was spent restlessly with visions of my stomach turning, and turning, and turning. The vomit burping was back in full force and I did throw up a little in the middle of the night.

I was queasy for most of Friday, but felt back to my old self by Saturday midday, with no more bouts of sickness.

I think there are two lessons to take from this:

    1. I need to make sure that I don’t eat much prior to taking my Ozempic injection. I have less of a ‘full’ feeling as the week goes on and it’s time for my next dosage. It will be helpful for me to remember to not eat a lot prior to the shot.
    2. I think I’m going to move my Ozempic day to Friday evenings. If I’m going to be super nauseous for a day or two after my shot, I’d rather feel that way on the weekend at home, as opposed to during the work week.

While all of this talk about throwing up, stomach pain, and queasiness may be off-setting to some, I am still happy overall with my Ozempic experience.

    Sugar Levels:

Sugar levels have been about the same as last week. I had maybe one or two nights where my head/face felt hot. Usually that means for me that my sugar is somewhat elevated.

I haven’t been checking my numbers as much as I should. My goal for this next week is to at least check my numbers at least twice a day.

We will see if I can make that happen.

    Summary of First 18 Weeks

The overall theme for the first 18 weeks has been, “Slow and Steady Wins the Race.”

The Ozempic medicine has definitely not created a drastic lowering of blood sugar or a significant weight loss change, however I also have not been on my best behavior – food wise.

I’ve always wanted to see results quickly. I typically have unrealistic expectations. I’m learning that I can’t think of Ozempic as a miracle medicine. I still need to be conscious of what I’m eating and my activity level.

It does feel, however, that I almost have a partner in this journey as Ozempic helps me along with my goals.

This is my  Weight Loss Tracker  that I’m using to help track my progress:

    Goals for Today:

    • Vacuum
    • Watch the Lions & the 49ers (Go Lions!)
    • Work on Pinterest
