I don’t typically make New Year’s Resolutions. If anything, I will sometimes have a weight loss goal of ‘lose 20 pounds,’ or something similar to that.
It is usually nothing too detailed or time consuming, with little expectancy of actually putting the time and effort into achieving the resolution.
I never seem to focus on improving my overall happiness, or life goals.
I’m hoping to enter the year 2024 with a different perspective.
While weight loss can be significant in overall health, I’d like to concentrate more on my mindset.
Grief has consumed me. Missing Mom is a daily cognitive task that drains me emotionally. There are probably numerous healthy ways to tackle the grief – such as therapy, however I’d like to try focusing my energy on achieving other goals to keep me occupied in hopes that the grief can’t take over.
I realize that means I’m probably avoiding dealing with the root of the issue. So be it.
I often will ask Brian, “Give me a goal. I need something to work towards.”
I’m continuously searching for something.
Maybe the New Year can help me find some peace of mind.
Small, Obtainable Goals – Focused

I want to be as clear as possible with my 2024 goals.
- Actively Work On Lowering My A1C
- Stop eating as much: pasta, candy, carbs
- Spend 30 min, 3 X a week, doing moderate exercise
2. Attempt to Make an Extra $200 Per Month via a Side Hustle
- Spend at least 3 hours per week working on my computer
- Continue to research different methods to make money from home
3. Organize/Clean my House Regularly
- Spend 20 minutes, 5 X a week, cleaning the house
- Spend 15 minutes, each weekend, organizing a specific space
I want to concentrate on 3 goals: A1C, Side Hustle, Clean House.
How difficult can this be?
Consistency is Key

Whenever I read articles about the effectiveness of achieving goals, consistency is addressed.
There’s nothing ground-breaking in that piece of information, yet it seems to be a vital key in seeing actual results.
I don’t want to lose track of my goals. I need to remember that in order to achieve success, I need a ‘stick with it’ attitude.
I’m feeling pretty confident when it comes to being consistent with lowering my A1C. I want to be healthy for my kids.
I’m also feeling positive about staying consistent with cleaning/organizing the house. I know how much a clean house helps my overall mental state. Brian helps as well, so I am optimistic that I will find success in that area. Hopefully.
The Side Hustle thing I’m not so sure about.
The idea behind the Side Hustle goal is to try and create a passive income that can be used after I reach retirement age. I’m attempting to prepare early for the expectation that I will spend my days after teaching, in my Writing Cabin, typing away to my heart’s content.
Unless something happens where I really start to sell more books, I’ll need another income.
We’ll see how it goes.
Continue Re-evaluating

Re-evaluating where I am at with my goals will be a crucial step in this process.
I’ve created a spreadsheet to help me track how I’m doing in each of the three areas.
I considered reviewing the goals monthly or bi-monthly, however I think I’m going to re-evaluate weekly.
Every Sunday I will log onto my computer and enter my progress, or lack thereof.
There’s nothing like a new spreadsheet to help me stay hopeful and keep me motivated.
I’m also planning on writing occasional ‘update blogs’ on how my New Year’s Resolutions are progressing.
I hope you join me on this 2024 journey!
Goals for Today:
