I’ve been taking Ozempic for 23 weeks now. While I’ve experienced ups and downs on this journey, Ozempic has overall exceeded any expectations I had when I first started the injections.
Side Effects:
I can not overstate the fact that Ozempic creates ‘gas’ issues for me. Even after all of these weeks, I find this as an odd side effect.
I have noticed that this is especially bad at night and in the early morning hours. If I wake up in the middle of the night, which I often do, I am full of ‘Ozempic burps’ as soon as I stand up to go to the bathroom.
It’s almost as if my body is this capsule that is filling with air as soon as I lay down at night. When I sit upright, and then stand to go use the restroom, the air/gas rises and burps just roll right out of me. It’s the oddest sensation because it feels as if I have a small air compressor inside of me.
I understand that this revelation and/or topic is not very ladylike conversation. I apologize. I’m just trying to stay as genuine as possible in my posts.
Other side effects consist of the sporadic nausea that I continue to experience, along with the feeling of being full most of the time.
I do want to say that there are times I find myself super hungry. Usually what happens during these instances, is that I begin to eat, feeling completely famished, and then I’m full within a matter of what seems to be a few bites.
One more thing to note in this section is that I’ve noticed my shirts are looser. They are not falling off of me, by any means, but there’s definitely been a noticeable difference with my weight loss.
Sugar Levels:
I am ecstatic about the numbers I am seeing on my glucose monitor. I have been checking my blood sugars regularly, and I have not seen a number in the 200s in a while. As a matter of fact, I had a few different times over the last two weeks where my blood sugar number was less than 100 in the morning. It’s been amazing!
Weight Loss:
I did not weigh in at the end of week 22. The reason was simply because I ate breakfast that day without remembering to step on the scale beforehand.
When I weighed in at the end of week 23, I was pleasantly surprised to see that I had lost 1.6 lbs.
- Week 1: -4.5 lbs
- Week 2: –1.5 lbs
- Week 3: -1 lb
- Week 4: -2.8 lbs
- Week 5: -1.6 lbs

- Week 7: +1 lb
- Week 8: +/- 0 lbs
- Week 9-11: – Didn’t Weigh In
- Week 12: -3 lbs
- Week 14: -3.4 lbs
- Week 15: -1.4 lbs
- Week 16: -2 lbs
- Week 17: +1 lb
- Week 18: -0.8 lb
- Week 19: -2 lb
- Week 20: -1.4 lbs
- Week 21: + 1.2 lbs
- Week 22: Didn’t Weigh In
- Week 23: -1.6 lbs
- Total Lost: -22.8 lbs
Plodding on Into Spring
I’m reminded of the idiom, “Slow and steady wins the race.”
If this journey was solely about weight loss, I’m not sure I would be looking at the progress in a positive (or negative weight loss … haha) light.
While I’ve lost weight, it’s not as if the pounds are simply melting off.
If I look at the combination of weight loss and lowering my blood sugar levels, then I am absolutely feeling successful. As a matter of fact, it feels as if I have a partner that is working along with me on my goals.
I’m going to continue to plod on into Spring, taking my weekly Ozempic injections and attempting to stay on track with my eating habits.
Takings things ‘one day at a time’ is not a bad philosophy.
Goals for Today:
- Eat a Healthy Dinner
- Organize the Towel Drawer (I chose this because it will only take a minute or two.)
- Work on my Author’s banner on Pinterest
