Life has been a little crazy lately.
I’ve been doing my best to stay caught up, but things just got away from me.
Basketball Season is in Full Swing
Basketball season started – my favorite time of year.
I love it.
I love the sound of the ball hitting the court as it’s dribbled down the lane. I smile as I hear the squeak of the sneakers as kids hustle and try for the steal. I especially enjoy the sound of the swish of the net from a well-shot 3 pointer.
Keegan and Khloe are both playing basketball this season, which means we are busy with basketball related activities 6 days a week.
While I really enjoy attending the games, it makes for some packed evenings.
(I will have to dedicate an entire blog post to basketball, so please know, if you are not a sports fan, you may want to skip it. If you are reading this, I’m talking to you, Matt.)
Holiday Shopping is in Overdrive

The Amazon guy has been probably cursing my name.
Do I wait until the end of the week to put one order in? Nope. I buy as I see things I like, daily.
While online shopping helps me tremendously with time, I do occasionally have to go out in public and maneuver through the hordes of people.
On top of my own purchases, I help my dad with his Christmas shopping. It’s fun, but time consuming. We usually go out to dinner after we visit the stores. With a list of about 14 people to buy for, this means it takes us 4-5 different trips to get everything all done.
I enjoy shopping with my father, but it just adds one more element to the busy season.
Meetings, Meetings, & More Meetings
The school days have been jam-packed with meeting after meeting.
There seems to be a big push sometimes to get that last meeting in, from all the various committees, before the Winter Break begins.
Meetings generally serve an important purpose, but sometimes the stress of scheduling meetings, filling out the paperwork involved, and just the overall addition of more work that they can create, adds to the already stressful schedule.
To put it bluntly, life has been hectic.
I’ve Missed Writing
The shopping & basketball evenings, as well as the over-scheduled weekends, has meant less writing time.
I would try to steal an hour or two, a few different times in the past couple of weeks, but something else always came up. It’s just been that type of month.
This time of year, it’s hard to remember that we need time for ourselves so that we are able to take care of the ones we love.
I need my time at the computer. Even if not one other person reads my posts, the act of writing helps soothe my soul.
I’ve often wondered if I should have called this site, ‘BloggingForTherapy,’ as opposed to MyLifeRamblings.
Many of my posts involve my late mother in some way. It’s not meant to be an emphasis for the site, but I guess my thoughts and emotions are so wrapped up in her passing away that her memories just come through as I type.
We have less than two weeks until Christmas. I have 7 more work days and multiple basketball days, however I’m going to really try and prioritize some writing time in the midst of all the chaos.
I can’t survive the chaos without the writing.
Goals for Today:
- Write
- Write Some More
- Wrap Presents
