I Didn’t Weigh-In for a Few Weeks: I could give you excuses – I’ve been busy, it’s the holidays, I’ve been sick (which I have), but really I should have weighed-in, but I didn’t. I need to be more consistent with paying attention to weight loss and weight gain.
I’ll do better.
Side Effects: I’ve noticed the past few weeks that I burp a great deal more than I ever have before. In addition to this fun fact, the burps are kind of like ‘vomit burps,’ if that makes any sense. It’s almost as if I could vomit at any minute, but then I get over the feeling and it’s gone.
I did have a couple of days where I was sick this past week. My daughter and one of my boys were throwing up for a day or two. I caught whatever stomach bug they had, spent my own time hugging the puke bowl in bed, sleeping the day away, but I don’t think that had anything to do with being on Ozempic.
Sugar Levels: My sugar levels continue to be anywhere from the mid 100s to low 200s. I had a day or two where I thought maybe I was creeping back into the 300s because my face was feeling hot and hurting around my cheeks and eyes. However, when I checked, my sugar was in the mid 100s.
Weight Loss: I didn’t weigh-in for 3 weeks, but when I did finally step back on the scale, I was down 3 more lbs.
- Week 1: -4.5 lbs
- Week 2: –1.5 lbs
- Week 3: -1 lb
- Week 4: -2.8 lbs
- Week 5: -1.6 lbs
- Week 6: +1 lb
- Week 7: +1 lb
- Week 8: +/- 0 lbs
- Week 9-11: – Didn’t Weigh In
- Week 12: -3 lbs
- Total Lost: -12.4 lbs
My First Three Months on Ozempic
Things are going well. Overall, I’m very happy with how things are going. I do have the weird burps now, and occasionally I feel nauseated when I shouldn’t, but I’m happy with my sugar levels, as well as the small weight loss.
The one thing that is a little frustrating, which is going to sound crazy, is that it can be frustrating to feel full after only a few bites of a meal.
Last week, Brian and I went to Olive Garden. I ordered Lasagna and chicken gnocchi soup. I ate a breadstick, had some of my soup, then pushed my bowl to the center of the table.
“You can’t be full,” Brian said. “You haven’t even ate anything today.”
“I know. I really wanted to eat the lasagna, too.”
I have to tell you, I was a little frustrated. I was hungry. It was one of my favorite meals, and I couldn’t eat more than a few bites. (I took the lasagna home for leftovers the next day, but it takes some getting used to with the feeling of fullness .)
My doctor’s appointment to check my A1C was rescheduled for January due to a conflict with meetings at work. It’ll be interesting to see if my A1C number had gone down, and if so, by how much.
Goals for Today:
- Wrap More Presents
- Check & Double Check my Christmas List
- Go for a Walk – It’s Uncharacteristically Warm Today
