It doesn’t seem like it’s been 21 weeks now on Ozempic. I’m finding that as I learn certain lessons with what to eat and not to eat while on the medication, I still stumble along the way.
Side Effects:
I did everything wrong this past week. Everything.
It started with the chicken gnocchi soup from Olive Garden. I really like it. I wish I had never found out that the restaurant sells buckets of it that you can order and take home. Not good.
Brian picked us up some early on in the week and we were able to have a few meals with it, take some to work the next day, etc…
I once watched my brother’s Labrador, who was wearing an underground fence collar at the time, brace himself as he prepared to cross the line, get shocked, so he could then go swimming in the channel on the other side. This is how I felt as I spooned up portions of soup to eat for dinner Monday night.
I paid for my actions in the form of a queasy stomach later that night, but the soup was great at the time.
Wednesday came and it was Valentine’s Day. Cute little kiddos kept bringing me chocolate all day at school. They didn’t force me to eat it, however, beautifully wrapped pieces of Dove chocolate was sitting on my desk throughout the afternoon. It felt like a shame to just let it sit there.
Fast forward to the evening on the same day and I arrived at home to a wonderfully cooked meal – thanks to my husband, Brian. He made homemade chicken broccoli alfredo pizza. I ate two ‘regular’ size pieces. (If we had cut it into fourths, I could have said I ate one piece, but that would have been a lie.)
I ended up with many queasy nights in week 21, but I never actually threw up.
I experienced the other side effects this week as well, such as the Ozempic burps, mild diarrhea, and just the quick feeling of being full – even though I didn’t let that stop me from over-eating.
Needless to say, I ended up gaining a little over a pound this week.
Honestly, I’m surprised it wasn’t more.
Sugar Levels:
I have been continuing to check my blood sugar at least twice a day. With the extra candy and carbs, I was expecting my levels to be high, but I was pleasantly surprised to find all of my numbers in the low 100s.
I’m not sure what magic took place to have this occur. The Ozempic must be working because I did everything in my power to sabotage my blood sugar levels, and it just didn’t happen.
They stayed right where they should have been.
Thank goodness for small miracles.

Staying the Course
I definitely veered off track this past week.
I had this mentality that I didn’t care if I was full or not, I was going to eat the foods that I loved.
That didn’t help me much.
I ended up being nauseous most of the week, which served me right. There was no one to blame, but myself.
I’ll do better next week.
Goals for Today:
- Build a Fire in the Fireplace
- Watch Basketball
- Sign up for an Author’s Event – (I may chicken out. We’ll see.)

Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about this, like
you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you can do with some pics to drive the
message home a bit, but instead of that, this is wonderful
blog. A great read. I’ll definitely be back.
