Ozempic is so much a part of my life now, that I don’t think about it too much. There are still side effects to deal with, and certain food choices to keep in mind while on Ozempic, but it’s not something that consumes my thoughts anymore as it did when I first started the medication.
This post is an update on Weeks 45 & 46 of my Ozempic journey. If you’d like to read about my experience starting from the beginning, please click here.
Thank you for stopping by at my blog. I appreciate the support! (As you will see from this post, I need it.)
Side Effects:
As I sit at my kitchen table and type, I feel sick to my stomach. I had a farmer’s omelet and some whole wheat toast around noon today when I went out to eat with my father. It is now 5:30 P.M. and I still feel full and bloated.
I’m blaming the Ozempic.
Basically, I ate too much when I had the omelet. I should have had half, and saved the rest for later. I didn’t want to bother the waitress for a box, so I just kept slowly eating away until there was only a couple of bites left.
If you’ve read any of my other Ozempic posts, this information probably does not surprise you. I pushed through that ‘Ozempic Wall’ of fullness and I’m now paying for it hours later.
Gassy stomach issues have also been an issue for me while on Ozempic, although the past couple of weeks have not been that bad. When I do have a day that is worse than normal, I make note of my food choices and then attempt to stay away from those foods later on. I’ve noticed that dairy and some veggies tend to make me want to throw up now.
One other thing that happened this past week, was that I put off taking my Ozempic on Friday because I had just ate and didn’t want to risk taking the medicine while I was full. (I forgot to take the injection Friday morning, like I typically do, and realized it after I had ate dinner.) I’ve learned in earlier weeks that if I give myself the shot when I’m full, I have more of a chance of becoming queasy.
It’s not worth the risk.
Sugar Levels:
I began this Ozempic journey for the sole purpose of lowering my A1C. When 1 Mg of Ozempic per week was not effective for me in improving my glucose numbers, my doctor increased the dosage to 2 Mgs per week.
After the medication change, I began to notice my blood sugar levels consistently in the mid 100s.
Ozempic has absolutely been a game-changer for me when it comes to helping me control my glucose levels. I can not stress enough how much my sugar levels have been under control while taking Ozempic.
Now, I still have higher numbers than I should during the morning times. I’ve never been one to be under 100 that often. Nowadays, my sugar levels are typically under 150 in the morning. While this may seem high to most people, I was usually seeing numbers in the high 100’s, low 200’s in the morning.
I have blood work scheduled for next week. My doctor will be checking my A1C at that time. I’m optimistic that it will be lower than it was in the spring.
Weight Loss:
I gained 1.6 pounds since I last weighed in two weeks ago.
I know why. It’s not a a big mystery or anything.
The culprit is ‘Fun Size’ Snickers.
I’ve had this really bad habit lately of believing I can eat whatever I want when I’m on vacation.
The trouble is that I’m a teacher, and I’ve been in vacation mode since June 8th.
One of the items I’ve been eating way too much of lately is chocolate.
My husband, Brian, has been buying me a variety of the mini chocolate candy bars and placing them in a Ziploc bag (gallon size) for me to have when I’m writing during the day, or reading right before bedtime. (This has been a fairly new routine that began this summer.)
It’s super nice of him and makes the writing sessions very enjoyable.
I’ve even started storing my Ziploc bag of chocolate in the fridge on hot days – just like an old person.
It’s become such a thing around the house that the kids now will search out my chocolate bag to see if I have anything they like to eat.
I’m diabetic and on Ozempic to control my blood sugar levels and help me lose weight.
My chocolate bag is a problem.
School officially begins next week. I will be back in working mode and the chocolate bag will not follow me to my classroom.
Probably.

Ozempic and Back to School
As I mentioned earlier, I will soon be back to school and on a regular work schedule.
There will be no more trips Up North every other week with endless eating out at restaurants, making homemade pizzas, and baking double batches of no-bake cookies.
Instead, I’ll be skipping breakfast, eating something quick for lunch, and then trying to find time to cook dinner in the evenings between football practices and game nights.
I did write my goal of losing 60 pounds on my bathroom calendar. Maybe between that, my commitment to this blog, and my school routine, I will make some progress.
Goals for Today:
- Create 10 Pinterest Pins Using Canva
- Go for a Golf Cart Ride
- Weed Whip the Yard (I actually already did this, but it feels good to check it off.)
