A few years ago, my husband and I started to search for a ‘She Shed’ that I could use as a writing space. I wanted somewhere to go and write that was away from the kids. A place all my own.
We ended up driving all over the state of Michigan, looking at various designs. I saw some fabulous little sheds that I knew could be fixed up nicely for what I was looking for. We were almost ready to go ahead and buy one when my father-in-law called and said that he had driven past some really nice little cabins down by where he lived.
Trophy Amish Cabins
We took the drive to Jonesville, Michigan on Highway 12 to check them out. As soon as I saw them, I knew that it was what I wanted.
The cabins, built by Trophy Amish Cabins, are absolutely breathtaking. We contacted Jim, their salesman to discuss what we were looking for. We set up a time to visit and talk about the different features of the cabins. It was one of those moments where, after walking through the cabins, we knew nothing else would compare.
The time between ordering the cabin and having it delivered was not a quick process. The company builds your cabin specific to your design. I think the process took about 8-10 months for us, but it was definitely worth the wait.

The cabin arrived in December of 2021. I was teaching in my classroom at the time, but my husband was home to greet the delivery person and to help with the placement of the cabin onto the foundation of crushed stone we had prepared. Everything went smoothly.
Creating a Writing Space
It’s been almost two years now and my excitement for the cabin is just as great as it was when it first arrived. I’ve spent time collecting different items to add to my Writing Cabin in order to make it the perfect space for me. I have some of them listed here.
After completing some Amazon searches, I found the perfect stained glass light fixture for the middle of the cabin, as well as a Tiffany style lamp for my desk area. An L shaped desk fit perfectly in the front corner of the cabin. On the desk, I sat this whimsical hippo candy dish that I found. Everything came together nicely.

I’m sure that I will continue to update my space as I go, but right now it feels fairly perfect to me.
I truly enjoy my time spent in my little cabin, and I will miss it as I head back to the classroom this next week. My only regret with ordering the cabin is that I didn’t do it sooner. I love it.
