    Daily Dose of Direction

    Keegan, Kaleb, & Khloe,

In an earlier DDD post, I talked about how it’s important to have a strong work ethic. While I absolutely believe this to be true, I also know that you shouldn’t concentrate so much on work that you don’t take time for yourself.

This advice is easier said than done. There are times I become so wrapped up in the stresses at school, that I have a difficult time letting things go and relaxing after working hours. Meetings tend to run late, school work often needs to be brought home, and paperwork has to be completed. On top of that, there’s also the general chaos of life at home with cleaning, cooking, etc…

When life becomes too busy, remember to take a moment and step away from it all.

Go for a walk, watch a movie, shoot some hoops – do something you enjoy so that you can recharge your system. As parents, we have purposely tried to help you balance your leisure time and your school/sports/work time.

It’s not as easy as it sounds. School is important because, well, I don’t want you to grow up and live in my basement. I want you to have a job and be successful. Sports are important because of the health benefits, the character building – and all the rest (I have a post about the importance of sports somewhere.) Finally, work is important, even in your teen years because without it, you wouldn’t have gas money, insurance money etc… Also, you just need to learn how to work for others, follow directions, have responsibilities, and all of that other stuff that being part of the work force teaches you.

Regardless, you need to find the balance in life. (Take time right now and watch this video by Kenny.)

    Love you!

    Mom
